CECMP Closed: President’s Weekend
February 12, 2027 - February 15, 2027

Presidents’ Day is a U.S. federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February to honor the nation’s leaders
- George Washington’s Birthday: The holiday began as a way to celebrate the birthday of the first U.S. president, George Washington (born February 22, 1732). It became a federal holiday in 1885.
- The Monday Shift: In 1968, Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act to create three-day weekends for federal employees. The holiday moved to the third Monday in February.
- Including Lincoln: Because Abraham Lincoln’s birthday is also in mid-February (February 12), the Monday observance naturally came to honor both leaders, and eventually all U.S. presidents
- Official Name: The federal government still officially calls the holiday “Washington’s Birthday,” though Presidents’ Day is the popular name
